In an effort to inform parishioners and guests when a church service or program needs to be canceled or delayed due to inclement weather, St. Peter Armenian Church is registered with the “School Closing Network.” Therefore, closings or delays will be announced through the following media: Capital News 9, WFLY—FLY 92, WGY—810 WGY, WNYT TV, WRGB TV; WRVE—The River, WTEN TV, WYJB — B95.5, and WXXA TV. Individuals may also call the church office for a recorded message.

Annual Parish Assembly

The Annual Parish Assembly for St. Peter Armenian Church will take place on Sunday, March 4. Elections will be held for Diocesan Delegates, Parish Council, Auditing and Nominating Committees. All individuals who have paid their annual dues through 2011 are eligible to take part in the proceedings. Contact the church office if you have questions about your membership standing for 2011.

Soup’s On

The St. Peter Junior High School Class will sponsor ‘Soup Night’ featuring a variety of homemade soups on Thursday, February 16, with open seating from 4:00-7:00 p.m. This event is open to the public. Cost is $10 per adult and $6 per child for all the soup you can eat plus cheese, crackers, bread, olives, and, of course, desserts! Also, a “Gourmet Soup Basket” will be raffled off at the end of the evening. Each purchase of a meal ticket provides one chance in the raffle. Additional chances may also be purchased to increase your chance to win! Make plans to enjoy dinner out or pick up a meal to take home. Please RSVP to the church office at 274-3673 by February 14. All proceeds will go to benefit the St. Peter Church general fund.

Honoring Der Garen

On Sunday, January 29, immediately following services, a fellowship “luncheon” will be hosted by the deacons, choir members and altar servers in honor of Fr. Garen Gdanian’s 87th birthday (on February 1).  All are invited to attend and extend birthday wishes to our beloved Der Garen.

Armenian Language Classes for Adults

Beginning Saturday, January 28, from 10:45-11:45am, an eight-week session of beginner Armenian language classes for adults will be held. Come to learn or brush up on your Armenian-speaking skills. All adults are welcome. Instructors for these classes will be Yervant Kutchukian, Joel Kupeyan and Violet Dadekian. Please contact the church office with your interest to attend.
